Art projects that make a difference

Teresa Serrano

Museo Amparo, Puebla, México. March 21–June 22, 2015

The exhibition Teresa Serrano originated with this book. Not just an anthology, here a group of writers and curators who had supported Serrano’s trajectory, reflecting on or exhibiting her work, were invited to write new essays each focusing on one of the many conceptual and formal aspects of her art over more than 35 years. The resulting interactions, elaborations, and insights into the multi-faceted work of an artist who started out by making charcoal drawings of her own children, quietly sitting in the living room at home, convey her commitment to her private convictions and memories as well as her openness to the external world.
